When getting your 360 out of the box, you'll find everything you need to get your gaming experience going: The console with premium chrome finish, the 20-gigabyte hard drive, Xbox Live headset, component HD/AV cable, an Ethernet cable and a bonus media remote if you bought the console around the holidays.
With its sleek PC-like design, it's a far cry from the originals bulky, black-box design. If you want to change the look, go ahead different faceplates are available at any store selling the system. On the front of the system, you'll find two memory card slots, two USB ports to hook up external items such as your iPod or any MP3 player, and a big, circular power button that's attractive to the eye. One disadvantage to other systems is the bulky power brick that connects from the wall outlet to the 360, but with the systems beauty, it isn't a big concern. The new wireless controller for the 360 (not available with the core package, or basic 360 package) is more weightless than the original Xbox, even with two AA batteries inside.
In the middle of the controller is a big X in a circle called the Ring of Light. It gives the gamer access to his or her profile or gives the gamer the ability to select music to play during a game. It also takes you to Xbox Live, the online community for gamers to play against each other, no matter where you are. Another feature of Xbox Live is the ability to download games and demos. One difference found with the new controller is fewer buttons, which makes it easier to learn a games command. The Xbox 360 features are a reminiscent of the original Xbox. Theres the option to rip music from a CD to play during a game and the standard but more advanced DVD player. The sequel has added the ability to upload pictures from a digital camera, picture CD or a Windows XP-based PC.
